Shell Scotford Perch Owl Nest Live Stream | Ardrossan, Alberta

Inside the Perch Owl Enclosure

The live stream captures the quiet, often solitary nature of this raptor. Viewers can expect to see the owl perched on a ledge or moving through the enclosure, which is lined with wood chips and features a small, sheltered window. The bird's plumage, rufous and mottled, is clearly visible, offering a chance to observe its distinctive ear tufts and piercing gaze in real-time.

• 🦉 Close-up Wildlife: A rare, unobtrusive view of a large owl in a semi-controlled environment, ideal for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts.
• 🏭 Industrial Backdrop: The view through the enclosure window reveals parts of the Shell Scotford upgrader and surrounding infrastructure in Ardrossan, blending wildlife with heavy industry.
• 🕒 Daily Rhythms: The owl is most active during dawn and dusk. During the day, it often rests, while evening hours may show more movement and vocalizations.
• 🌲 Seasonal Changes: The surrounding landscape visible through the window shifts with the seasons, from the flat, open prairies of summer to the snow-covered fields of an Alberta winter.

While the primary focus is the owl, the camera also provides a glimpse into the broader Ardrossan area, a town known for its proximity to major oil and gas operations. This stream serves as a fascinating point of interest for those curious about the coexistence of wildlife and industry in northern Alberta. Keep an eye out for any shifts in the owl's posture or position, which can indicate changes in its activity level throughout the day.
